Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186)
This visa allowed offshore and onshore skilled workers, who are nominated by their employer, live and work in Australia permanently.
Eligibility
- under 45 years of age
- applicant must have a least IELTS score 6 point on each band
- be nominated by an approved Australian employer
- applicant’s occupation must be on the relevant list of eligible skilled occupations
- applicant must apply for the visa 6 months of the nomination being approved
- applicant can submit the application in Australia or in oversea.
- applicant can include your spouse and children (age not older than 23 years old)
- Meet the health and characteristic requirement
- From 1st July 2017, high-paying exemption age, English and career assessment were canceled.
- From 12th August 2018, employer must pay the Skilling Australians Fund (SAF) levy. Company with annual turnover less than AUD $10 million, employer need to pay SAF of $3000 one off; Company with annual turnover more than AUD $10 million, employer need to pay SAF of $5000 one off.
Mainly 2 streams for Employer Nomination Scheme visa:
1. Direct Entry stream
Eligibility
- Provide a skills assessment report on the nominated occupation
- have at least 3 years relevant working experience, unless exempted
- have the employment contrac
2. Temporary Residence Transition Stream
This category is specifically designed to provide permanent stay to 482 visa holders.
Eligibility
- have worked for your employer for at least 3 years full time on the nominated occupation
- IELTS score 6 in each band.
- If applicant is holding a 457 visa during the transition period of 18th April 2018, applicant only need 2 years of work experience; applicant is exempt from the English requirement if applicant have completed at least 5 years of full-time study in a secondary or higher education institution where all tuition was delivered in English)
Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme visa (subclass 187)
This visa allows skilled workers, who are nominated by their employer in regional Australia, live and work in Australia permanently.
Eligibility
- under 45 years of age

- be nominated by an approved Australian regional employer
- applicant’s occupation must be on the relevant list of eligible skilled occupations
- applicant must apply for the visa 6 months of the nomination being approved
- applicant can submit the application in Australia or in oversea.
- applicant can include your spouse and children (age not older than 23 years old)

- Tasmania – Entire Territory
- Victoria – Excluding Melbourne Metropolitan Area
- Western Australia – Excluding Perth and Surrounding Area

1. Direct Entry Stream:
Eligibility

- If applicant is an overseas technical worker, applicant need to provide a skills assessment report issued by Skills Assessment Authorities.

Temporary Skill Shortage Visa (Subclass 482)
TSS (Temporary Skill Shortage Visa) is to substitute the 457 visas. This temporary visa enables an employer to sponsor a suitably skilled worker to fill a position they can’t find a suitably skilled Australian to fill.
You must:
- be nominated by an approved Australian employer
- have the relevant qualification and skills to do the job
- meet the relevant English language requirements
- there is no age requirement for this visa
- applicant can submit the application in Australia or in oversea
- meet the Australia character requirement
- applicant can include spouse and children (age not older than 23 years old)
- Meet the health requirement
- From 12th August 2018, employer must pay the Skilling Australians Fund (SAF) levy. Company with annual turnover less than AUD $10 million, employer need to pay SAF of $1200; Company with annual turnover more than AUD $10 million, employer need to pay SAF of $1800.
There are 3 streams of subclass 482: Short-term, Medium-term and Labour agreement.
1. Short-term Stream:
For this stream of the visa, you must be sponsored to work in an occupation listed on the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL). You can work in Australia for up to 2 years and Citizens of Chinese nationality can obtain a 4 years visa.
Eligibility
- Applicant need to meet the IELTS overall 5 score with no band lower than 5.
- have worked in the nominated occupation for at least 2 years
- Meet the GTE requirement
- Need to work for the nominated employer
- Have a positive skills assessment
- Have qualifications recognized by the relevant authority in Australia for the medical practitioners.
- Have the annual salary no lower than $53,900
2. Medium-term stream
For this stream of the visa, applicant must be sponsored to work in an occupation listed on the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL). Applicant can work in Australia for up to 4 years visa.
Eligibility
- Applicant need to meet the IELTS overall 5 score with no band lower than 5.
- have worked in the nominated occupation for at least 2 years
- Need to work for the nominated employer
- Have a positive skills assessment
- Have qualifications recognized by the relevant authority in Australia for the medical practitioners.
- Have the annual salary no lower than $53,900
